(6.54)  Auburn

Carmel Shadow will add spice and warmth to grey, light blonde and dark blonde hair and will add a hint of cinnamon to light brown and even medium brown hair. This colour is ideal for people who are after or who have naturally auburn red hair.

*this colour will not lighten the hair as it contains no bleach or peroxide.

Colour & treatment in one

Our hair colour products also act as a treatment, helping to repair dry and damaged hair, leaving your hair soft and shiny.

This 100% Certified Organic formula is ideal for those who have scalp issues, sensitive skin and allergies to chemical hair dyes. It is also a wonderful and safe alternative for pregnant mums who would like to continue colouring during pregnancy* as they contain nothing but certified organic goodness.

Me Time required

Organic hair colours need time to deposit colour on your hair. Please allow the following amount of time for your colour treatment.

Non Grey coverage : 1 hr

Grey coverage : 2 to 3 hrs

Amount of product required

Short hair & root touch ups - 1/2 pack

Medium hair - 1 pack

Long hair - 1 to 1.5 packs

Super long hair - 2 to 3 packs

Thick hair - will need to add an extra 1/4 pack for short hair and 1/2 (short to medium) to 3/4 pack (for long hair)

*Please note - repeated use will see your colour become richer and in some cases darker. Once you achieve the colour shade you like on the lengths, simply apply to the roots only and do a full application every 4th or 5th time to boost the colour at the ends. This will save time and product and ensure you have an even colour all over.

Ingredients

Lawsonia inermis, Indigofera Tinctoria, Cassia obovata, Aloe barbadensis.

Important

*We recommend a strand test to determine desired processing time and final colour result. Colour resistant hair will require the longer period for processing time. Not recommended for people who wish to bleach or lighten their hair blonde in the future. Strand test instructions can be found here

    Caramel Shadow

I love this product. I have been using it for years. I only touch up the roots using 1/4 of a packet every couple of weeks when my greys grow through - and the colour is great for the length of my hair. SoI have 100% grey coverage! People are constantly asking me if it’s my natural colour too! Couldn’t be happier!

    Henna, Caramel Auburn

Posted by Lynette on 24th Feb 2023

Over the years my naturally red hair has faded to a bog ugly dead brown. Yuck. I have been using henna as a colouring agent for decades. Other hair colouring agents cause chemical burns to my scalp and after only a few applications dry my hair out to a straw-like consistency. So, obviously, they are not an option. Henna from Desert Shadow, on the other hand, helps keep my hair in great condition, does not cause chemical burns and, best of all provides a natural looking colour. Both I and my hairdresser love it. When I'm at the hairdresser's, many clients also comment on what a beautiful colour it is. So, what can I say, give it a go even if you do it yourself, which I have done. One thing, if you go to a hairdresser, mix up the henna before you go, put it in a clip-lock bag and store it overnight in the fridge. I make up a large batch and freeze the leftover for the next time.

    Get compliments

Posted by Sarah on 7th Jan 2023

I often get compliments on my hair colour. I use the caramel shadow as a base to coat my greys and then walnut brown to tone down the red and give it depth. Having a natural, non dye product that actually covers greys is amazing. I am so happy with this product. I am allergic to chemical dyes so finding this product was awesome!

    Lovely

    Posted by G on 27th Nov 2022

This is a great colour. I like to use it around the hairline where my hair is lighter and finer as the copper red makes it look too orange. However, I also use copper red which I love. Terrific, natural henna that's easy to use and wash out, leaving hair in lovely condition.

    Best I have come across

Posted by Kez on 7th Sep 2021

I have used a variety of different brands of henna many times over the years. This must be the best product that I have EVER used! Excellent instructions were supplied (including a tip I had never come across before). For once, the henna washed out easily (after 4 hours) with no gritty feeling in my hair. First time ever! No more having to use a dark pillow case, as the colour stays on my hair, and doesn't come off on the pillow. Can't wait to use it again :-)

    Great colour

Posted by Tracey Carter on 4th Jun 2021

I haven’t coloured my hair in 10 years as I hated the feel of it after putting all the chemicals on to my hair. A friend told me about desert shadow so I tried the caramel shadow and I love it. I have bucket loads of hair so I needed the whole packet to colour it. It isn’t patchy at all and colour is fantastic and it still feels so soft which is great. I will admit the smell is a bit off putting so if you are doing your hair for a special occasion, I would do it the week before. I will definitely use desert shadow again.
