Me Time required

Organic hair colours need time to deposit colour on your hair. Please allow the following amount of time for your colour treatment.

Non Grey coverage : 1 hr

Grey coverage : 1.5 to 3 hrs

Amount of product required

Short hair & root touch ups - 1/2 pack

Medium hair - 1 pack

Long hair - 1 to 1.5 packs

Super long hair - 2 to 3 packs

Thick hair - will need to add an extra 1/4 pack for short hair and 1/2 (short to medium) to 3/4 pack (for long hair)

*Please note - repeated use will see your colour become richer and in some cases darker. Once you achieve the colour shade you like on the lengths, simply apply to the roots only and do a full application every 4th or 5th time to boost the colour at the ends. This will save time and product and ensure you have an even colour all over.

Ingredients

Lawsonia inermis, Cassia obovata, Aloe barbadensis.

Important

*We recommend a strand test to determine desired processing time and final colour result. Colour resistant hair will require the longer period for processing time. Not recommended for people who wish to bleach or lighten their hair blonde in the future

    'Red Shadow' hair colour

Posted by Suzie taylor on 22nd Jul 2021

I've been using this product for nearly two years now and I love it. The colour is beautiful, covers all my grey, and I get compliments regularly. People think I'm a natural red-head! I stopped using supermarket brands because they were destroying my hair and it was the best move I could have made. My hair is soft, and its actually growing at last. Highly recommend.

CANT LIVE WITHOUT THIS HAIR DYE!!!

Posted by LO on 13th Feb 2021

I admit I was a loyal satisfied customer of Hairprint, however due to a shortage of stock as Hairprint is a US company,  I had to try something else. I came across Desert Shadow & tried it out. To my surprise, I found Desert Shadow so much easier to use. It doesn't stain the bathroom, you don't have to apply 4 different satchels & watch off each mixture each time in the space of 3 hours. The coverage with Desert Shadow is 100% coverage! As I have 80% greys, I was so happy to have these results because Hairprint only gave me 70% coverage! To cover greys, especially with black hair, I've found it is crucial to use the 2 step process by applying Red Shadow first. And then applying Chocolate Shadow. The easiest way I've found to do this, especially running after kids all day, is come home, apply the 1st step, make dinner & then after 3-4 hours, wash it out. And then apply the 2nd colour the following afternoon/evening. I find it's super easy. I've found the best way for me to maintain my black hair & keep my greys covered, is to halve the dose of the packets so that I do my hair every 3 weeks, rather than once every 6 weeks. I'm actually able to maintain this routine with ease. I do keep a portion of the Chocolate Shadow in the freezer (Step 1 packet) ready to go as well, so it's super easy!! To conclude I'm totally loving being grey free & am totally loving Desert Shadow, it is helping me stay grey free, my hair always feels so shiny & soft after it as well. And most importantly, I'm looking after myself by keeping the toxic load off my body which is super important for me.

    Beautiful colour!

Posted by Kat on 27th Jul 2020

I love this hair colour. It produces an amazingly vibrant, rich and long-lasting colour. I always end up with regrowth rather than fade. It's a chunk of work to do properly; this is NOT a quick on-and-done product. It is the consistency of mud and so takes some effort to get through the hair. I tend to make it up a little wetter than instructed and add a good couple of dollops of honey too. Makes things MUCH easier to manage and is an awesome treat for my hair. This stuff ticks all the ethical boxes, produces an amazing result and is absolutely worth the effort!
